Welcome to The Old Rectory

The Old Rectory School offers an exceptional educational opportunity for children with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) including dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and related learning difficulties. It is well-known for its specialist, whole school approach and commitment to returning pupils successfully to mainstream education.

"The school is successful in meeting its aim of supporting pupils with specific learning difficulties to acquire the confidence and skills necessary to access and succeed in mainstream education. Given the nature and extent of the pupils' learning difficulties, their achievement is good overall."

OUR MISSION
  • To equip pupils with key skills in literacy and numeracy, within a broad, balanced and suitably differentiated National Curriculum
  • To develop positive attitudes to and effective strategies for learning
  • To recognise and respect each child’s learning needs and styles; challenging and supporting them in achieving their personal best both academically and socially
  • To prepare each pupil for the next stage of his education, with the independence and confidence to plan for a successful future.
  • To support and advise parents in understanding their child’s specific educational needs and in making next school choices.
Our reputation for achieving these goals is substantiated not only by progress as measured on standardised tests. More importantly, it is by the happy, motivated pupils who leave us prepared to engage fully in the learning process and achieve levels of success previously thought unattainable. To fully appreciate our school, I would invite you and your family to visit us. You will meet our staff, tour our lovely buildings and grounds, chat with the children and even have the opportunity to talk to parents.

You will be most welcome.
